Who We Are
Folkestone Women’s Forum is a feminist organization with community, collaboration, and connection at our core.
Back in March 2020, FWF marked International Women’s Day with Take Up Space, a celebration of community, collaboration, and connection in Folkestone. We brought together brilliant speakers, artists, activists and makers from across the world. Highlights included banging beats from Big Joanie; spitting rhymes with Shay D; spoken word queen, Vanessa Kisuule; and Amy Bell, blending dance, text, and animation with a live digital soundscape.
Emerging from previous International Women’s Day celebrations in Folkestone, the Take Up Space festival was bigger, bolder and even more ambitious. We had poetry, performances, film, dance, thought-provoking discussions plus a whole lot more. almost 1000 people Connected and collaborated by taking part in our diverse workshops, events and exhibitions. We had pop-up markets, craftivism, amazing vegan food: twelve spectacular days of women supporting women.
